The President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, has suspended one of his country’s judges over mental health issues.
Local media reports monitored by African Entertainment revealed that Justice Mary Gitumbi, a judge of the Environment and Land Court, suspension became necessary due to mental incapacity.
Reports say in a gazette notice issued Tuesday, August 24, 2021, President Kenyatta named a tribunal that will look into the removal of Justice Gitumbi from office.
The reports added that her suspension followed a report of the Judicial Service Commission that stated it was satisfied that, based on medical reports, the judge was unable to perform her the functions of office.
