Kanye West is heading to South Carolina for his first political event.
Kanye will hold his first presidential campaign rally of his own Sunday in South Carolina. A campaign document was provided to POLITICO.
Reports say Kanye will be hosting the afternoon rally at the Exquis Event Center in North Charleston for registered guests only. All attendees will be required to wear masks and observe social distancing.
West, announced confirmation of his White House campaign on the Fourth of July. He sealed the deal by filing a statement of candidacy with the Federal Election Commission last week, listing “BDY” — the Birthday Party — as his party affiliation. On Saturday Ye tweeted for supporters to get him on the ballot in South Carolina.
“Hi guys please sign up to put me on the ballot in South Carolina at any of these locations,” he said, listing eight venues and linking to the website kanye2020.country. “You can also sign up at the website.”
Kanye must have gotten his request because he is on his way. Currently, Vice President Joe Biden leads Trump by 9 percentage points, according to the RealClearPolitics polling average. Kanye, has already missed the ballot deadline for 12 other states and would have to have strong desire from voters to win. West has not registered in any major polls, even among voters opposed to Trump or Biden.
Over the past few weeks the acknowledgement of Kanye running has been up in the air, as one of his campaign members reported that he allegedly dropped. The next day Kanye confirmed that he was still running and registered in Kentucky.
A source familiar with West’s Presidential campaign spoke out about the development saying, “He’s registered in, I think, two states,” . “It’s such a baby organization it doesn’t even have a logo yet.”
The team will need to work hard to pull this through.
