Keisha Lance Bottoms Is Not Scared Of Lawsuit by Georgia Governor

Keisha Lance Bottoms confirmed that she was being sued by Georgia governor Brian Kemp over mask requirements. Bottoms spoke out about it in a news brief saying if a lawsuit is what has to be done to keep Atlanta safe then that is what will happen. She also made it clear that she feels as though the lawsuit is a a personal retaliation.

“I do believe it’s personal retaliation and he sued us personally,” Bottoms told CNN’s Alisyn Camerota on “New Day” Friday morning. “He did not sue the city of Atlanta. He filed suit against myself and our city council personally.”

Georgia has had over 3,000 deaths so far and 121,000 confirmed covid 19 cases. Keisha Lance Bottoms said the Governor has had more than enough time to help come up with a solution and has failed. Bottoms also tested positive for covid 19 after the state opened up. The virus was an eye opener that Atlanta may need to revert back to phase 1 to protect the city.

“This is startling for me because we’ve been so very careful. We’ve taken all of the precautions you can take. We wear mask we wash our hands I have no idea when and where we were exposed,” she said Monday.

Bottoms responded to the lawsuit on Twitter, saying, “3104 Georgians have died and I and my family are amongst the 106k who have tested positive for COVID-19. … A better use of tax payer money would be to expand testing and contact tracing.”

There have been at least 333 deaths in Fulton County, which includes the city of Atlanta.

Kemps Attorney General Chris Carr, spoke out saying,  the lawsuit “is about the rule of law.” Kemp has executive power for the state, he said, and Atlanta “cannot continue to knowingly enter orders that are unenforceable and void.”
