The Argentine footballer told the media he did not want to leave Barcelona.
He delivered his press conference at the Camp Nou on Sunday, August 8, 2021.
He was full of emotions, saying he did not wish to leave the club the way he is leaving.
I wanted to say goodbye differently
He said he wanted to say goodbye to Barcelona’s supporters in a different way but the coronavirus has not allowed that to happen.
“It’s been hard, a year and a half without fans. I wanted to say goodbye properly,” he said during the live interview monitored by African Entertainment.
“I’ve given my all from the first day to the last,” he said.
“One day I hope to come back. I promise that to my kids. I want to help this club to be the best,” he noted.
End of contract
His contract with Barcelona came to an end on June 30, 2021.
Barcelona told the media a few days ago that Messi was leaving after more than a decade.
‘I have not agreed anything with anyone’
When asked where he was going next, Messi told the Spanish media that he has not agreed any deal with any club.
According to Messi, “For now I haven’t agreed anything with anyone.”
