    Zambia’s new President promises three decent meals a day for citizens


     

    The new President of Zambia has vowed to ensure that citizens of Zambia have three square meals per day.

    As earlier reported by African Entertainment,  Hakainde Hichilema, who won former President Edgar Lungu in the August 12, 2021 election, was sworn into office today, August 24, 2021.

    His televised inauguration ceremony was held in a parked stadium in the national capital, Lusaka.

    In his inaugural speech, he stated that “No Zambian should go to bed hungry.”

    According to him, his administration would focus on reviving the economy and creating jobs for the unemployed youth.

    Mr Hichilema, a 59-year-old businessman, also pledged to crackdown on corruption.

    He noted that there will be zero tolerance for corruption.

    He added that “We will pay special attention to lowering the fiscal deficit, reducing public debt and restoring social and market confidence.”

    According to him, “To the jobless youths, a new dawn is here where you will be skilled and find opportunity to work or do business in an economy that we will revive”.
